How it works

Our job is to enhance and expand the responses that work and that you like, and to diminish or erase those responses that you donít like or that are no longer useful. Happily, now we can do that ... with basically healthy people ... it works every time.

The brain of the newborn can be conceptualized as a computer with some of the primary software systems already complete and installed (circulatory, metabolic, etc.). The rest of the software remains to be programmed through experience.

 


All new programs are geared towards individual survival and learning occurs accordingly; quickly and permanently.
Now you can choose to change your program.


Human beings are capable of one-time learning.

Powerful responses like phobias are installed with only one imprint of the trigger.

A loud noise can produce a phobic response if it is loud enough to seem life threatening. 

Anxieties follow the same procedure; the only difference is in the level of intensity. The brain perceives even minor anxiety producing situations as threatening.


 

A positive response will imprint in exactly the same way and in the same time if the emotion is extremely intense. Example: a person who "falls in love at first sight."

 


The level of danger as understood by the brain will determine how far into the fight/flight/freeze (FFF) response the body will go.

 Part of what we have learned is how to change the ongoing individual internal coding of fear-producing information. Example: the code of how you see, hear and feel internally when you think about speaking in front of people and the danger that (supposedly) represents.

 

The subconscious has somehow learned that if you do THAT (whatever your fear or anxiety is) you will surely DIE ... and maybe right away! So it presents you with your own coded thinking designed to bring on the fight/flight/freeze (fff) response to save your life!


Using our techniques, the coding for the (fff) response on an inappropriate fear or anxiety, is changed permanently. When we change the coding of that re-presentation, the whole cycle never even gets started. You just forget to remember to be afraid.

Now we can change a response we don’t like into one which is comfortable, beneficial and maybe even fun.

You can change your physiology by changing how your brain re-presents events or you can change how your brain is re-presenting an event by changing your physiology.  "Change your mind, change your body; change your body change your mind" is a fundamental neuro-linguistic principle.


 

Input begins with seeing, hearing, touching, tasting or smelling. Whenever particular stimuli are noticed, the sensory experiences are turned into a picture, and/or a sound, and a feeling (s) that will be further filtered for better understanding.

Since your brain cannot possibly pay attention to all the information bombarding it, what it knows to ignore (delete) is as important in creating a person’s reality as is the information the brain has learned to notice and to focus on.

Some of the filters your brain uses to interpret reality are beliefs, values and attitudes, which have been formed through personal experience and interpretation. Some of these filters will evolve and change themselves through experience alone and some will just remain fixed and become obsolete or no longer useful.


Your brain uses filters to choose which input to "generalize" (compare to previous experience and categorize), which to "distort" (make sure the input matches previous understandings) and which to "delete" (ignore what seems not to apply to the individual in that situation). These categories will have been subconsciously designed according to previous successful experiences.


A person’s internal representation of input or experiences is not exactly what happened, but a totally personalized interpretation of what happened. We often refer to this personalization of events as a person’s individual "map of reality".
